Gus Zernial was a true slugging star of the 1950's
golden era
of
baseball. During that decade "Ozark Ike" belted 232 home
runs which was
good for third best in the American League.
Only baseball Hall of Fame members Yogi
Berra (256) and
Mickey Mantle (252) hit
more.
After his big league baseball
days were
complete he went on to become a very
successful
sports broadcaster.
Gus talks about life before, during and
after
baseball as he
knew it, adding his
thoughts on today’s game
and many
other subjects.
